A former cab driver who has been writing about Texas music for more than 50 years, he has authored and co-authored biographies of Willie Nelson, Selena, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Dallas Cowboys, and the City of Austin, and wrote introductions to the books Conjunto and Homegrown: Austin Music Posters 1967-1982.
Patoski’s byline has appeared in Texas Monthly, Rolling Stone, the New York Times, Oxford American, and No Depression magazine. Currently a Writer-at-Large for Texas Highways magazine, he hosts The Texas Music Hour of Power radio show on Saturday nights on Marfa Public Radio and Wimberley Valley Radio.
