Supported by the Viken filmsenter as part of the Viken Ung "Viken young" program, the Halden International Music Film Festival (HIMF) offers a special opportunity for youth.

A music video workshop will take place during the HIMF from February 15 – 18 at the renowned Athletic Sound Studio, and at Kulturhuset in Halden. The seminar will be led by film- and video creator Anders Lindstad, educated at the University of Oslo and credited with producing programs and videos with a wide range of music artists and music ensembles.

At the music video workshop, the young participants will be tasked to create a music video for the local band Norma. The band is from Halden but has gained a reputation as one of the up- and coming bands in the region. Norma appeared at the "Aladdin Americana" festival in Halden in last summer, recently recorded their first mini-album, and is now occupying center space at HIMF.

The video that the students create will be shown on the main stage at Byparken on Saturday night February 18th just before Norma takes the stage. This workshop and activities around music videos is part of the emphasis that HIMF is placing on this genre, with different activities taking place through the festival.

In addition, A number of original drawings from the original a-ha music video “Take on me” will be exhibited in the exhibition area of the Kulturhuset, made available by Gunnar Strøm, professor emeritus in Film studies from Volda University College.

A keynote speaker on Thursday morning at HIMF, Gunnar Strøm he has published widely on animation, documentary film and music videos.

Also, Arvid Skancke-Knutsen will be on hand each day at 11:45 to present his daily choices of music videos. One of the country's foremost experts within the music video genre, he will present his choices and colorful explanations as he shows his choices of the day.

As noted above, the Video Music Workshop is supported by Viken film centre.
